Where Boys Fear to Tread
> Zero
Fuck You
BC: Thank you. Our next song is called By Starlight.
By Starlight
“Thank you for participating” tape
> Tonight, Tonight
BC: Hi, hello, hello.
Iha: Hello.
BC: (Southern accent) How y'all doing?
Iha: (Southern accent) How are y’all doing?
BC: Welcome to the Infinite Sadness Tour ‘99, I mean ‘96. Thank you very much for coming. James, wanna tell everyone hap--what happened with the plane today?
Iha: Today our plane backfired, there was a small bit of turbulence in the engine and uh, what happened, the pilot passed out, I took over control of the plane, I landed the damn thing right here in Memphis! I just wanted to say that today is the greatest day.
> Planet of the Apes clip
> Thru the Eyes of Ruby
BC: Thank you. You're all suspiciously quiet, it makes us nervous. We know that the whole, you know, we know rock is dead and all that, but let's pretend that it still lives (laughing) for a while. You know what kinda, heh, you know what kinda (laughing) rock and roll I like?
Iha: Yeah, what’s uh, what's that?
BC: That would be the kind of rock and roll--just like Prince said--that the angels make.
Iha: Alright, this next song is made in heaven, heh.
Cherub Rock
BC: Thank you.
Galapogos (acoustic)
Disarm (acoustic)
Circus tape
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
BC: Thank you very much. So, what would you like to hear? Hmm. Heh heh. Well, whatever you're saying, we're gonna play this song anyway.
BC: Thank you.
[encore break]
Porcelina of the Vast Oceans / Rocket
[encore break]
Iha: Thank you, I see you've met our friend from Norway. He's a uh, he's our psychiatrist on this tour. You don't believe me? Well, he travels with the band and uh, we often have him dress up as part of our regression psychiatric help, we bring out our primal fears about ourselves and we--and we make Jimmy dress up this way, for he is our psychiatrist. How do you people feel, are you bored? You sound like you're bored of a--of a tired cliche that's been happening for more than 50 years. I'm talking about rock and roll. So, what do you want next? What? I--I'll try to bring out the rest of the band but I--I don't know if they're gonna come out. Why, here they are now. All the way from Chicago. ...
How Many More Times (tease - Iha playing quietly on and off while Billy talks)
BC: See we're a little uh...yeah go ahead, keep booing, it's okay. I'd like to tell you a story before we play again, like to tell you a story. Can I tell you a story? Okay. I don't wanna shout, so you know, I'll just talk normally and if you wanna listen, you can. We almost didn't play this concert. (light booing) Well, you have to hear the whole story before you boo me, see, you’ll boo at the end. We almost didn't play this concert because we were kinda very disappointed by the fact that it didn't sell a lot of tickets like most of the other places we play, we almost considered--now, don't boo yet, just let me tell the rest of the story. James, stop playing...please. So we decided not to cancel the show...because we didn't think it was fair to those of you who had bought tickets to not play. And the fact that we hadn't played here too many times before, couldn't really blame you for not knowing who we were so.... So I--if you're a little puzzled by our reaction to all of this, it's just because you've been strangely quiet all night, which usually means that we suck and aren't very good. Or it means that you suck and you're not very good. Probably more likely it's that we suck. So that's the--that’s our little story, just thought you might like to know why we are the way we are.
Iha: And uh, now that the stage is bare with emptiness, we will uh...try to carry on.
