Iha: How are ya?! Thank you! You're a very kind crowd and we're glad you could make it out here tonight to rock. And now, I know your eyes are all--all over here to stage left. A special guest, ladies and gentlemen, tonight only. All the way from Milwaukee, of the Frogs, ladies and gentlemen, Jimmy Frog! Jimmy Frog. You don't know his purpose yet but it is a great purpose that he carries tonight. On the keyboards, his brother, of the Frogs, Dennis Frog! Yes, and the keyboards did sound crazy tonight on Tonight, Tonight, I thought I was losing my mind. And now, the moment you've been waiting for, on the drums, Matt “Cosmo” Walker! The only man, the only man who could possibly beat Holyfield, right there behind the drum riser. Thank you. And now, we wish to carry on the rest of the ceremonies. Come on. Let's get to the fun part and keep the show rolling! Clockwork!, we got a goddamn plane to catch tonight. We're off to London tonight, ladies and gentlemen, we're gonna go play for the Prince of Wales.
BC: Yes. Prepare to be shocked. Prepare to be horrified, yes, it's that part of the show where we invite people up on stage to dance.
Iha: Yes!
BC: Heh heh heh heh.
Iha: Yes, we will embrace every rock cliche known to man.
BC: Yes. So, Jimmy shall choose the dancers. Who wants to dance with Jimmy Frog?
(Matt starts a hip hop beat)
Dennis Frog: Oh yeah!
Iha: Come on, people, put it up in the fuckin’ air.
Dennis Frog: Come on. Come on!
Iha: Let me see those fuckin’ hands.
Dennis Frog: Kick it. Yeaaah.
Iha: Come on. Let’s keep it movin’, people, move around on the streets of Chapel Hill, you know what I’m talkin’ about?, get those fuckin’ hands in the air! (Dennis Frog joins in on keyboard) Come on! Jimmy, pick our dancers! [unintelligible]
BC: We’re kickin’ it like--we’re kickin’ it like the motherfuckin’ Fugees: no style!
Iha: Alright, come on, come on, come on.
BC: No style!
Iha: Who shall dance?
Dennis Frog: Oh yeah!
BC: Who shall dance?
Iha: There’s Jimmy.
BC: Here comes the green angel now.
(Matt switches to a disco beat)
Iha: Aw ye--heh. Turnin’ up the BPM, Matt “Cosmo” Walker!
BC: Who shall dance?
Iha: Do you wish to dance? If you wish to dance...if you wish to dance, show some enthusiasm please. Oh my god.
BC: Wow, heh heh.
Iha: People flock to Jimmy Frog. I know this is quite shocking for most of you.
BC: Shocking, shocking, it’s shocking. Ohhh...aw yeah.
(Matt and Dennis stop)
Iha: Alright.
BC: Now that the selection process is almost complete...
Iha: We have our dancers.
BC: ...let's take a moment to meet our dancers. Who are you and where are you from?
Girl #1: My name is Rebecca Bossen and I was born in Durham and I go to Duke, sorry, heh. (crowd boos)
BC: Duke? Did she say Duke?
Iha: Yes.
BC: Isn't that the college that people go to when they can't get in North Carolina University? I think so. And I do believe that uh, North Carolina has more national championship titles to their credit, so um, let's not forget about that. Okay, heh heh, sorry, who are you and where are you from?
Guy #1: John Snyder, I'm from Rutherfordton, North Carolina.
BC: The birthplace of Orville Redenbacher. I know who you are but where are you from?
Girl #2: (off mic) Birthday, it’s my birthday!
BC: I don't give a fuck that it's your birthday.
Girl #2: (off mic) Yes you do!
BC: I don't give two fucks that it's your birthday. It's my birthday, you know what, it's my birthday every day, that's what I say.
Iha: Yeah, what do you think of that?!
BC: In fact, it's D’arcy's birthday and it's James’s birthday.
Iha: And it's Ross Hafland's birthday!
BC: Who are you and where the fuck are you from?
Girl #3: Raleigh and I am Susan.
BC: Heh heh.
Iha: Well, alright.
BC: 'Scuse me. Heh, where are you from?
Girl #4: Greenville, North Carolina, and I'm Allison.
Girl #5: Durham, North Carolina, I'm Suzanne.
Girl #6: Catherine Alley and I am not from Raleigh.
Girl #7: Charlotte!!
Iha: Alright, we have our dancers. The process may be flawed in selecting them so we can only carry on with the show. Uh...now, let's not have this put a pall--a uh, bad sign over the show, we will continue--
BC: Rules, we forgot the rules. Tell 'em the rules.
Iha: Oh yes, we have two rules for all our dancers, gracious dancers on stage, that would be uh, number one: don't touch us, number two: don't touch our shit. Okay. Alright, and for those of you who cannot join us on stage, perhaps if you've been to college, taken a philosophy course, adult education is a wonderful thing, you could dance in your mind. Yes, that's correct, dance in your mind or dance freely amongst the seats that you have.
1979 (with Jimmy Flemion)
BC: (high pitched) Thank you, dancers! ...
Iha: Alright, now we will continue with the rock show. Sorry if that was shocking. ...
BC: We hope that everyone has had a good time tonight. As we move into a new era, we're happy to provide you with safe, wholesome, quality family-style entertainment. The dancing is just the beginning. We send this next song out to all the moms and dads out there. Because if it wasn't for them, the world would not be full of snotty children.
Iha: Yes. Good point.
BC: Like ourselves, thank you very much. James, would you like to introduce this next song?
Iha: This next song is called (whispered) X.Y.U.
X.Y.U.
[encore break]
Silverfuck / The Aeroplane Flies High (clips) / Thirty-three / Dose
(BC at 23:48: So we’d like to thank you for sticking around. I always enjoy the empty seat part of the concert ‘cause that means those are all the people that have left because they’ve already heard their MTV style hits. So we’d like to thank you for being true fans. We hope to see you again some day on the other side of rock and throll. We thank you again, we are the Smashing Pumpkins.)
