BC: Hellooo? (screaming) Hello!! (normal voice) We are the Smashing Pumpkins, thank you very much for coming to the rock concert.
Iha: [unintelligible but possibly “Hello” in a high pitched voice].
BC: My uh, my ears are all screwed up, so if you see me doing this kind of--this kind of stuff, I'm not yawning, it’s uh, I can't hear shit, but anyway!
Iha: Woo! He can't hear, woo! Woo! Wow.
BC: So we hope you all have a good time, um.... I'm not really sure why all of you have to be so far away, we don't really understand this part of it, but...we can see you, you are out there, we know you are.
Iha: And we know that you guys are rockin'.
BC: Even though we are blind, deaf and dumb, we can hear and feel you, so we thank you very much.

BC: Thank you very much. Is everybody alright? That was the uh, the psychedelic portion of the show, you have survived that.
Iha: Was it far out? [unintelligible word]. And now, we move on to the plaintive, emotional, acoustic portion of the show.
BC: For those of you who weren't already falling asleep, this is now a good time to take a nap.

[encore break]
BC: Thank you very much, you guys are really great, thank you.
Iha: You people of Hartford are rocking! I hope, I hope we’re not too psychedelic for you tonight now.
BC: We have to apologize a little bit, uh, I'm sick, D'arcy's sick and um, we're trying really hard to not be sick but you know how it is, you can't really help being sick, so thank you so much for everything. Whoa, heh heh.
Iha: Wow.
BC: Heh heh heh, hey.
Iha: [2 unintelligible words]?
BC: No, wait, who are those people way up there at the top, they’re like--no, those people like by the ceiling, who are those people?
Iha: (British accent) Those are the--the chosen ones.
BC: Those are the kids whose parents own skyboxes.
Iha: Okay.
BC: And thanks again for a great concert, we appreciate you very much, I hope you all can hear me, we know you guys are there. And now, one last cyber jam to implode your still growing fetal minds. This one's called (whispered) X...Y...U.
X.Y.U.
[encore break]
Iha: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you. Now, I know this may be shocking to you people of Hartford, but we have brought a special guest. All the way from Milwaukee, of the Frogs, Jimmy Frog! Hey. Okay, a nice round of applause for Jimmy fuckin’ Frog. Okay, now, his brother, on the keyboards, Dennis Frog! Whoa. A nice round of applause for Dennis Frog and uh, the moment you've been waiting for.
BC: Wait. The guy who plays drums?
Iha: Yo. The guy who plays drums, ladies and gentlemen, can I have a warm round of applause for Matt “Cosmo” Walker?! Oh my god, he's crazy.
BC: Jimmy, would you like to say something to the good people?
Jimmy Frog: Tonight we're gonna do something different, gonna pick some dancers out of the crowd to dance. So who can do the [unintelligible]?
Iha: That's real novel.
BC: Yes it's time to, it’s--heh heh heh, yes, it's time to pick the dancers to join us on stage.
Iha: Audience participation.
BC: Jimmy shall pick the dancers.
Iha: Jimmy, you go find those people. (Matt starts a disco beat and Dennis joins in) Aw yeah, people of Hartford, put it up in the air like you just don't fucking care! Jump around! Yeah! Come on, let's get those hands up, let's see those hands. Let's jump for joy, people, jump for joy, here we are.
BC: Who shall be dancing? Oh, they're already dancing.
Iha: Oh my god, they're out of control.
BC: Who shall dance?
Iha: Who shall dance? Who shall it be? Wow, we got some funky people up here tonight. Jimmy! Who shall be the dancers? Here we wind it down.
BC: Yes, it's become a tradition.
Iha: Yes, here we go.
BC: You wouldn't think it but yes, we do have a dance song now and...all we're trying to do is get it together, open our arms to the boogieing beat.
Iha: We're just trying to get it on with you people and uh....
BC: Let's take some--heh heh, oh my god, I can't talk. Let's take some time to meet the dancers.
Iha: Yes, let’s.
BC: Please come over here.
Iha: Okay.
BC: Heh heh. Please tell--ugh, my god, I cannot talk. Please tell everyone who you are and where you're from.
Girl #1: Hi, I'm Cindy, I'm from New Mexico.
BC: New Mexico?! Is that Connecticut? What the fuck are you doing up here? No, I'm just joking. We try to pick...
Iha: Locals.
BC: ...local people but it's Jimmy's fault.
Iha: Blame...Jimmy.
BC: Please tell everyone who you are and where you're from.
Girl #2: My name is Lauren Michaud and I'm from Weathersfield, Connecticut!
Iha: Well...you’re obviously out of control.
BC: Same questions, my man.
Guy #3: I'm Rob and I'm from Bristol, Connecticut.
Iha: Well, good luck to Rob.
Guy #3: Thank you.
Iha: He’s got some ‘tude.
BC: Alright, dancers...
Iha: Two rules.
BC: ...and I use the word loosely.
Iha: Two rules.
BC: We have two rules for our dancers...and these are serious rules.
Iha: These are serious rules.
BC: Breaking the rules will cause me to hit you over the head with my guitar.
Iha: Hit you in the head with a guitar.
BC: The rules are...don't touch us and don't touch our shit.
Iha: Alright.
BC: Besides that, go fucking crazy for all I care.
Iha: Now, good people of Connecticut, those of you who could not be on stage, we encourage you, for any of those who have gone to college, dance on stage but in your mind. That's right, in your mind. Now let's all have fun and dance, goddammit.
1979 (with Jimmy Flemion)
