Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Intro
Tonight, Tonight
> Zero
Fuck You
BC: Thank you, hi.
To Forgive
Today
> Planet of the Apes clip
> Thru the Eyes of Ruby
> By Starlight
BC: Thank you very much. We appreciate you coming to our concert tonight. As I said last night, we've been coming to the Washington DC area since about 1990 and it's always been a pleasure to come here. And we thank, uh, we thank all our old fans for sticking with us and we thank all our new fans for coming. So we send this here song out to you.
Disarm (acoustic)
Circus tape
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Siva
Porcelina of the Vast Oceans / Beautiful / Rocket
BC: (Satanic voice) Thank you. (normal voice) So how is everybody?
Fight Fire with Fire (tease - Billy is quietly doodling the acoustic opening while Iha talks)
Iha: Did we--did we space you out? Are you spaced out?
Tear (tease - Billy plays 5 notes of the riff while Iha talks)
> Fight Fire with Fire (tease - Billy goes right back into doodling the opening while Iha talks)
Iha: Are you still with us? Alright. Well, let's get on board the spaceship one more time.
BC: You guys, remember it, it will no longer be the Washington Bullets. It will be the Washington Warblers.
Iha: That’s right.
BC: Because bullets don't win, they kill. (Jimmy starts Cherub Rock)
Iha: There’s a lesson.
Cherub Rock
[encore break]
In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida (tease)
Iha: Yeah. How is everybody? Good? This is the small time for me and you, me and you to talk, one on ten thousand, just talkin’. Talkin’ about fuckin’ whatever, I don’t know. You doin’ good? I can tell you’re doin’ good, you’re rockin’. Now I remember as a small child, I’d think of a grasshopper and I was thinking about Nietzsche, we all remember the Nietzsche novel, Beyond Good and Evil. I was contemplating the uh, you know, the very depths of man’s evil, could he crush the grasshopper? And I thought as a young child, fuck it, I just wanna go to the play--playground. So you know what I did, I let that grasshopper go and uh, I became all schoolyard that year. I was great (song ends) on the monkey bars and uh...I don’t know, let’s rock. (Billy plays a blues riff and continues while Iha talks) You got them fuckin' blues, don't you? Shit, he's from Chicago. We got the Bulls, we got the Bears, we got bratwurst, we got the blues. Damn. (Billy finishes doodling but Jimmy starts a drumbeat right as he does) Oh yeah, I know what you're talkin' about.
blues jam
Iha about 25 seconds in: You see, this is what we do. We truly play this, we don’t really write songs, we just jam on blues all the time at practice. You’re just getting a little taste of it right now. This is a fuckin’ practice, ain’t no concert, it’s a practice session, we’re just jamming.
BC: Wait, these people down here are suspicious of our blues roots.
Iha: Right.
BC: Alright.
Iha: They don’t really know what the fuck we’re talkin’ about or playing.
BC: All I know is (sings and plays same notes simultaneously) we want to thank you, I want to thank you right now, I want to thank you.
Iha: Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.
BC: Heh. (Jimmy stops) (Billy waits a few seconds and then sings/plays again) Now it’s time to go...
Iha: You go!
BC: (sings/plays) ...now it’s time to go on with the show...
Iha: You go!
BC: (sings/plays) ...show, show...
Iha: You go!
BC: (sings/plays) ...whoa whoa whoa.
Iha: Go now! (Billy keeps doodling but stops singing) Oh my god, I’m sorry. (Billy stops)
BC: This one's for Stevie Ray. (crowd cheers) Not Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stevie Ray Jones, this guy I went to high school [sic].
Iha: Alright, we'll get back to the cyber rock, hang on.
BC: He had a blues dream, it never came true.
