January 9, 2021 was the 2021 A Bowie Celebration show, a livestream tribute event honoring David Bowie. It was meant to be on Bowie's 74th birthday (January 8) but had to be pushed back a day. The event was organized and hosted by former Smashing Pumpkins and David Bowie live pianist Mike Garson. Tickets were $25, two dollars of which benefited the Save the Children charity.[1]
Billy Corgan sang "Space Oddity" to Garson's piano. As with most shows throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the performance was pre-recorded. While some artists joined Garson to record their part at Rolling Live Studios in Los Angeles, Corgan submitted his video remotely, presumably from his home or studio in Chicago. In the video, a television streaming Corgan's vocals sat atop Garson's piano.
Other artists to perform include Trent Reznor, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro with Taylor Hawkins, and Duran Duran, among others.

Garson: About 20 years ago, I had a wonderful time working with The Smashing Pumpkins. You know this gentleman as Billy Corgan. I know him very well as William Corgan. Please welcome him.
