> Ava Adore
(BC before bridge: Jeffrey, give these people some Eddie Van Halen!)
BC: Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen, thank you! You know, this young man over here and I started this band in Illinois...in Chicago, Illinois...about 1987.
Iha: A very long time ago.
BC: And I looked at him and I said, “I’ve got a dream, bro.”
Iha: Heh heh heh. “We should play Peoria.”
BC: And he said, “Heck ya, what’s that dream?”
Iha: “What’s that dream? What’s that big dream?”
BC: I said, “Someday we’re gonna make it to the top! To the top!”
Iha: Top of Peoria.
BC: He’s like, “I’m gonna create a visualization, can you picture that for me?” I was like, “Yeah, man. Someday I’m gonna look like a sad fuckin’ vampire.” “No way, bro.” “Yes way, bro.” Shaved head, the whole bit, super goth. O.G. And he said, “What does it look like, what does it look like?” “We’re on a big stage, yes, we’re on a big stage.” He’s like, “What else?” “Buncha people smokin’ weed.” “Really?!” “Yeah man, weed’ll be legal. Legal!”
Iha: “No way, it’ll never be legal.”
BC: “Legal. Everybody could do it. Even fish now are gettin’ stoned.” And uh...he’s like, you know, “Madison Square Garden?” and I was like, “No, a muddy field in fuckin’ Illinois!” And I’m happy to say that tonight that dream has come true! We’ve waited a long time for this. Heh heh heh heh! But listen, thank you, we love you, we appreciate you, thank you for supporting our band. And what I love about our set that we’re doing right now is we take this little moment to thank each and every one of you and dedicate this song to you. It’s a little song you might know, you mighta heard it when you were in the womb. Not in the room, the womb. It’s a little song we like to call Tonight, Tonight.
Tonight, Tonight (Billy/Iha acoustic)
Stand Inside Your Love
Cherub Rock
> Zero
> Love Gun (tease)
BC: Thank you very much, thank you! We hope you’re having a good time, we’re having a good time with you. Now yesterday we had an auspicious anniversary, it was the 31st anniversary of our first record called Gish. And as a special treat -- we hope you appreciate it as a treat ‘cause we don’t play this song very often -- we’d like to play a song from that album for you. We hope you enjoy it.
Snail
Sweet Leaf (tease - riff several times)
BC: (singing) Alright, yeah.
FOL
BC over extended outro: Alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright! I gotta ask you people a question! Do you feel James’s love tonight? Do you feel Jeff’s love tonight? All the way from merry old England, do you feel Jack’s love tonight? And do you feel the love of the greatest drummer on god’s green earth, Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin? (Jimmy solo)
Iha: Unh! On the vocals and hot guitar, Mr. Billy Corgan.
(Billy solo)
BC: Sweet. (plays 4 notes) Come on, James! (repeats same notes several more times)
Iha: You got the Chicago blues tonight. Got those Windy City blues! Oh!
BC: You know what’s even deeper than Chicago blues?
Iha: What’s -- what’s deeper than that?
BC: Fuckin’ Peoria blues.
Iha: Peoria blues. We don’t got them.
BC: And thank you guys, thanks so much.
(song ends)
Iha: We’ll be doing another set later.
