Zero Interlude Film
(BC: Ladies, gentlemen, friends, lovers, beasts or fowl, welcome to the show. We are the illuminated, the illustrious, the ill-timed knock. (two snare drum hits) Ah yes, we are the fractured, the schisms, the rift and the rabble, the sleepy clown, the atomized downs, the dreams you stopped dreaming oh so long ago. Yes, all colors mixed and marred make up the black, as do all numbers fix up the zero, zed and null. So let’s go back to your beginnings, as I shall go back to mine. It won’t last, it’ll be quick, but then again, that’s why we’re here. No past, no future, no sun. So let’s blow on fading embers, to boast about kings near, forgotten and buried. Tis the end. Tis the end. Tis the end.)
Zero
The Everlasting Gaze
Stand Inside Your Love
Iha: Chicago. Sweet home Chicago, how are you? Thank you so much for coming out, we really appreciate it. What can I say? We grew up here and now we’re rockin’ here. It’s so great to have you here. This is a very nice song from our Mellon Collie record.
Thirty-three (acoustic)
Iha: Ow!
Eye
Soma
Vaudeville Interlude Film
(Mark McGrath: Well, hello there, neighbors! Are you enjoying the show thus far? Well, good, I am too, even though I’m not real. Now, if I could steal a moment of your time, I’d like to introduce somebody verrry special to you. He’s been a friend and a neighbor to each and every one of you. He’s been the voice you might hear in the stiiill of the night or a night dog straining against the moon. And, in fact, this young man has been with you almost every step along the way on life’s long journey, sighing so ever soft. He’s been a lover, a fighter, but never a cad. A beacon, a searchlight piercing every impenetrable fog. And he’s here, just now, to sing for you, that golden chestnut we like to call Blew Away. So gather round, ‘cause here he is: the one, the only, Mr. Jaaaaames Iha.)
Blew Away
For Martha
BC: Thank you so kindly, thank you!
To Sheila
> Mayonaise
Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
Iha: Thank you so much, Chicago! Are you still with us? That was a psychedelic journey of the mind. And uh, now we’d like to play a very beautiful song by a beautiful band. Check it out.
Landslide (acoustic)
Tonight, Tonight
short lounge interlude (most is tape but Katie plays organ live)
> Stairway to Heaven
Iha: Thank you. Chicago, Stairway to Heaven, Smashing Pumpkins, it all makes sense. Cross it off the bucket list now. Thank you so much. I’d like to do a quick introduction of the band. On vocals, keyboards, acoustic guitar, Ms. Katie Cole! Katie Cole. You can find her CDs for sale up front. All the way from Australia. And now, all the way from Manchester, England, on the bass, Mr. Jack Bates. Ohhh way. From southern California, now residing in the city of Chicago, Mr. Jeff Schroeder! Jeff, what’s your favorite part of Chicago? Heh heh heh, the United Center? Do you come to 'Hawks games here? What’s your favorite pizza? We’re gonna talk about this backstage, we had this whole thing about what the best deep dish pizza was. If you wanna write online which is the best--okay, never mind, I’m just joking. On the drums, all the way from Joliet, Illinois, Mr. motherfuckin’ Jimmy Chamberlin! You know, I’ve never been to Joliet. I imagine it’s a nice place. I’m from a northwest suburb myself of Chicago, I’m James Iha, thank you. And a man of the world, the whole world, on vocals, lead guitar, Mr. Billy Corgan! Ow! The man with the blue Stratocaster, thank you so much, you guys have been awesome. We will rock some more and we will rock (high pitched) right now!

(Mark McGrath: Well, wowie zowie, papa ooh maow maow! What a wang dang and doodle of a show. And, it ain’t over yet. Now I don’t know about you but this next tune is one of my faaaaaaves. Reminds me of drivin' down the old PCH, high out of my mind on ecstasy and I was singing the chorus of the song you’re about to hear so hard and so on high, that one of my front teeth fell right out! Yup, plain out right there in the dashboard. Wow. That decade was just, just so good, wasn’t it? I mean, here you have young wash masters rising up to start a musical and cultural revolution that was soon co-opted by the machine and driven asunder! Gee golly. But thankfully, what we got in return was just so much better. I mean, let’s face it, who doesn’t want perfection in their stars above? ‘Cause perfect people making perfect, sweet music is, well, it’s just, it’s just what a god wants for all of us! Whoo! Red light, stop, it’s raining. The air is cool and the sky is gray and the year? Well, it’s 1979!)

Ava Adore
BC: Woo-ooh! Gonna go down to Wicker Park tonight and get all fucked up. Grow a mustache. Get a tattoo, down in Wicker Park.
Iha: That’s what happens, I guess.
BC: That’s where the kids are, James. That’s what the kids are playing. You guys ever heard of Wicker Park? Me neither.
Iha: They actually have good pizza, returning to the pizza subject again.
BC: James...
Iha: Yes.
BC: ...James doesn’t like to talk about his upbringing much but he’s from the hard streets.
Iha: Heh heh heh heh. Of the northwest suburbs, it’s--it’s a hardscrabble existence out there.
BC: Where you from again? They always say I’m from there. Where you from?
Iha: (very quiet) Elk Grove Village.
BC: Man, it’s tough over there. The mean streets of Elk Grove.
Iha: I did come from a middle class suburb, yes.
BC: Heh heh.
Iha: It’s actually nice. Really, it’s really nice.
BC: Jimmy Chamberlin, you’re from the gentrified...
Iha: I don’t know, is Joliet gentrified? I don’t think so.
BC: ...can holding.... Heh heh heh, Joliet. Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh, woooo!!
Iha: You can post online where you’re from and we’ll make note of it.
BC: But I was born in Chicago.
Iha: Chicago proper?
BC: And my mother, she walked right out of the hospital and tried to throw me in the lake, but somebody stopped her, thank god. This one goes out to my mother, heh heh, heh heh, heh heh heh.
Try, Try, Try

> Hummer
Today
Detroit Rock City (tease - Jeff plays a few seconds quietly as Billy starts BwBW)
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Iha: Thank you so much. Thank you, Chicago. It’s great to be here in the place of hockey, basketball--do they play baseball here? Uh, but most importantly, it’s great to be--that you are here and we are humbled that we’re playing such a place like this, thank you so much. This is our last jam.
BC: We’ve reached the end, thank you so much for sticking with us, even the people leaving, thank you so much for coming tonight. Of course the people leaving do remind me of the fans who left the Cubs game last night a little early. I’m just sayin’.
Iha: I left. I didn’t think they were gonna come back.
BC: Just sayin’. But we love everyone, we appreciate you so much, thank you so much for making this night possible. Last time we played this building was about 2000, so it means a lot to us to be back here with you.
Detroit Rock City (tease - Jeff plays a few seconds quietly)
BC: As you know, it’s better if I don’t talk so I’m just gonna say thank you, god bless you. We have one more song, if you know this song, sing along. If you don’t know this song, I don’t know what you’re supposed to do.
Iha: Go crazy.
