Banter[edit | edit source]

Where Boys Fear to Tread
> Zero
> Starz / Dazed and Confused
BC: Thank you very much. Thank you for helping us sell this place out, thank you. Now I don’t know how many of you have seen this band before or me before. A few of you. As some of you know, I’m a difficult soul. But that said, we have a night of great music planned for you. Some new ones, some old ones. Some dusties. So to kick off this evening proper, we’d like to play a song from my first album, Gish. A song called Rhinoceros.
Rhinoceros
> Rocket
Space Oddity
> X.Y.U.
Disarm
Tonite Reprise
> Tonight, Tonight
BC: Thank you so - hello? Thank you so much, thank you. Thank you so much, thank you. Everybody had a good time so far? You know, Jeff, um, with Tebow being released by the Jets, I wasn’t sure how this crowd was gonna be tonight.
Jeff: They seem pretty excited. Right?
BC: I like Tim Tebow. Now was he the player that came out today as gay?
Jeff: I - I think so, yeah. Right?
BC: The Tebow?
Nicole: Who was that?
BC: Do you know what it means to Tebow? To Tebow?
Jeff: No, can you show me? Nicole, come on, Nicole.
BC: Backstage after the show.
Nicole: What do I have to do?
BC: Do you know how to Tebow?
Nicole: No. Somebody out here does, I’m sure. (Jeff laughs) No. Heh heh, she does.
BC: I meant in a sexual context.
Nicole: No. That’s out of line.
BC: Anyway. We’d now like to play for you an abbreviated version of our album, Oceania. Just a portion of the album. Thank you to the seven people that bought it, thank you. Just kidding, it actually sold fairly well.
Jeff: Chart topping.
BC: So we like to call this the Oceania Suite. We’ve -
Jeff: I like that band, I like that band.
BC: Heh. You like the shorter Oceania?
Jeff: Well, it’s not unlike that band, the Sweet. Sweet.
BC: Are you on Tebow?
Jeff: [unintelligible]
BC: You’re on Tebow, aren’t you? So we like to start with the title track and it’s called Oceania.
Oceania
Violet Rays
Quasar
> The Chimera
One Diamond, One Heart
Pinwheels
The Celestials
Pale Horse
Ava Adore
> Cherub Rock
Stand Inside Your Love
BC: Thank you, thank you everybody. ... Heh heh heh. So um, before we say goodbye.... Heh heh.
Jeff: Oh.
BC: Hey, we can play all night, dude. [unintelligible]
Jeff: [unintelligible]
Nicole: [unintelligible]
BC: It’s either this or Dawn of the Denny’s, you know what I’m sayin’?
Nicole: Pancakes.
Jeff: Waffle House.
BC: Before we finish our set...as planned...as per, we’d like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for coming to our show. This uh, this year...around the fall, will mark the 25 year anniversary of when we first took the stage.
Jeff: And Mike’s not even that old.
BC: I know Mike’s not that old, I know Mike’s younger than that. But yeah, 25 years ago, I first took the stage with the original Smashing Pumpkins lineup. So I don’t know how many more years I have left doing this kind of thing. Notice they didn’t boo that part. Right? Heh heh. So I just want to say, I’m...little older, little wiser, I’m in a greater place of appreciation for my incredible fans that have followed me through the years. I know that what we - what we do, what we do is uh, not everybody’s cup of tea. May not even be your cup of tea at any given moment, but at least we still represent independent music, independent spirit....D-I-Y, D-I-U, I-O-U. So it’s a great honor, it’s a great honor to have traveled the world to play my music, to play with great musicians like Nicole and Jeff and Mike.
Jeff: [unintelligible]
BC: Sorry - sorry, Beard Man, we won’t be playing any Mumford tonight...but I’ve got a banjo out back if you wanna hang out. So thank you again, um, we got a couple more songs, so thank you.
