Machina/The Machines of God (premaster) is the so-called "premaster" mix of the Machina/The Machines of God album. It had an alternate version of "The Sacred and Profane" with two bars of electronic drum beat at the beginning of the song, electric guitar instead of acoustic in "Age of Innocence", "The Crying Tree of Mercury" titled "The Mercury Tree", and a different, more lo-fi mix overall.[1] It was likely intended as a promotional release for record stores to play.
While copies had the same track ordering as the official release, some had peculiar track numbering in the insert, starting with track 16 instead of 1.
"The Sacred and Profane" is about 10 seconds shorter than the final Machina mix and contains a different drum intro.
"The Crying Tree of Mercury" is listed as "The Mercury Tree".
"Age of Innocence" is about 11 seconds longer than the final Machina mix and has electric guitar instead of acoustic.
