Help:Studio sessions

From SPCodex, The Smashing Pumpkins wiki

The studio sessions section lists recording sessions by The Smashing Pumpkins and related acts. This page attempts to explain how the pages are structured and work from a technical perspective.

Page title[edit source]

The page title should usually follow the pattern [date or date range] – [location]. For example, December 1990-March 1991 – Smart Studios, Winter 1992 – Sadlands, or September 8, 1991 – Maida Vale Studios.

Templates used[edit source]

Layout[edit source]

December 1992-March 1993 – Triclops Sound (the Siamese Dream sessions) is a good example. The layout should generally look like:

  • {{infobox studio session}} containing basic info about the session itself.
  • Intro and/or general information about the studio session. Use the same manual of style we use for other pages, where the first sentence should generally indicate the name of the session in bold (such as December 1992-March 1993 Triclops Sound). A notable quote from the sessions is also often placed immediately after the intro (using the {{cquote}} template).
  • "Tracks recording" section – a bulleted list of the songs recorded, each using the {{recording}} template. If some songs are unreleased or available on bootlegs, there's usually a subsections to indicate this:
    • "Officially released"
    • "Available on bootlegs"
    • "Unreleased"
  • "Background"s section (optional) – if there's too much information to cram into the intro section
  • "Equipment" (optional) – if known, you can list equipment information here. When there's enough information, you may want to create subsections for each instrument. A "Production" subsection is also often included, if you know for instance which mixing consoles were used, etc.
  • …whatever other sections deemed appropriate.
  • "References" – If there are references used in the body of the article, transclude them here with {{reflist}}
  • Era navbox (optional) – such as {{Siamese Dream sessions}}, {{Mellon Collie sessions}}, etc.

After creating or modifying a studio session page, be sure to update the main Studio sessions page accordingly.
