"Delusions of Candor" is a song by Starchildren, a side project of The Smashing Pumpkins member Billy Corgan. It is the only original song officially released under the Starchildren name, and features drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and former Smashing Pumpkins tour manager Bob English on bass.[1]

The song received a limited release of 1000 white vinyl records and 5000 black vinyl records. The record was a split 7" featuring Starchildren on one side, and "Chante des chansons sur les filles! (Songs About Girls)" by the band Catherine on the reverse.

The cover of the record states "Delusions of Candor" was composed by "Mr. Lemon" and produced by "Johnny Goat," both pseudonyms used by Billy Corgan.

Background[edit | edit source]

As Corgan recalled on the Thirty-Three podcast, the song was at the request of TVT Records who wanted to put out an original Corgan song. The writing and recording happened one night when he was drinking a lot of tequila. Corgan wrote the song "on the spot" and considered it "a complete mess, but kind of fun."[2]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

You've got a lot to learn
I got a lot to learn
I got a lot to do
But would you want me to

And I'll say it again
I'll say it again
I'll say it again
I'll say it again

I've nothing more to say
I've nothing more to say
So say it again
So say it again
So say it again
So say it again

Say
Say
Say it again
I'll say it again
I'll say it
I'll say it
I'll say it
I'll say

Say what you want
Say what you want
Say what you want
Say what you want
Say what you mean
Say where you've been
