Banter[edit | edit source]

Tulin: This may take a minute, everything seems backwards.
BC: Lemme make sure I’m not gonna die here. One two. Alright, one two. Hello. One two, little more vocal...please. One two, one two.
Tom Tom
Levitation
Make It Happen
BC: Yeah. Thank you very much, thank you. Thank you for your being here tonight for Laura, it means a lot to us, thank you, god bless you. Tomorrow is Laura’s birthday. The big 4-0...which means you’re 39, Laura. Like to dedicate this song to Laura. It’s a new song, it’s called Where the Cocks Crow. Oh wait, sorry, When the Cocks Crow, When the Cocks Crow. I know this is a favorite of yours. You dropped your notes. Haha, [unintelligible 2 words], you alright? Mr. Mark Tulin on the bass. Speedy O’Dog on the drums. I knew you’d take off the hat.
Brown: (off mic) Half a song.
BC: Half a song. Alright. Feel free to sing along, you’ll know what I mean later.
When the Cocks Crow
Plastic Fantastic Lover
> Into the Light
BC: Thank you, thank you!
[encore break]
Lady: (during encore break) To the Backward Clock Society, people! Ohhh yeah, that was what I’m talkin’ about. Unh. That was amazing. Alright, at this time, okay, hold on though, Josiah, come onstage, my brother! Where’s Josiah Busacci? Yaaayyy!
Josiah: Thanks so much for coming out tonight, guys, it’s for a great cause and um, when one of your friends are down, I wish, you know, you can only hope that you can help out.
Lady: Well, hopefully we’ll have some kind of health care in this country so that we don’t to have benefits all the time! Is there anybody that you would like to thank, come back here, come back here. (off mic) Who would you like to thank, anyone? (on mic) Me?
Lady #2: (off mic) Everybody on stage. (on mic) All the bands, Billy, thanks so much for playing.
Lady: Okay, we need to--e need to give up Billy Corgan a special thank you because...seriously. I don’t know how many of you know this.... (off mic) Can you, can you lower this? (on mic) It’s at Billy height. Here we go. Um, Billy signed a bunch of stuff for auction including the Gish bass and then we also auctioned off the drum set that was used on Gish and uh, was that, it was the Gish one, right?
Josiah: And uh, all--all the proceeds went to Laura, so....
Lady: Yeah, they made a bunch of money off of it [2 unintelligible words]. So, another round of applause for Billy Corgan, please. A good friend, [unintelligible], people. Okay, we would like to get, heh, if we can, a special--a special person, the reason we’re all here tonight, Miss Laura Ann Masure, my girl. Can we get her on? Can we reach her? Okay, hold on because we might have to...let’s give her a second. Be careful, please, honey.
Guy in crowd: Bring the mic to her!
Lady: Well, let me try that. Here we go. Isn’t that easy? (makes a few noises), okay, be careful. Yay! Okay, I’ll give you the mic.
Laura: I hope my doctor’s not in the audience ‘cause he would be really pissed that I just did that. You guys, how can I even say thank you? I mean, god, every single one of you has contributed to helping me support our shitty health care system. (laughing) I know, yeah. No, I...I don’t even know where to start and I’m probably gonna start crying. But just thank everybody, this was all Josiah’s idea. It started with a [unintelligible word] benefit at Spaceland and little by little, it turned into this. I don’t know, thank you to everybody whose nice generosity is crazy. There we go. It’s my birthday.
Lady: (singing) To you. Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, dear Laura. Happy birthday to you. (normal) You’re welcome. Okay, is there anything else you wanna say?
Laura: No, you say all the cute, smart things, so you take the microphone and I’ll try to hobble on back downstairs. And let’s give you guys--I mean, god, thank every single one of you, I can’t believe it. It’s so--I know, I mean, I love you. If you see me around the neighborhood, say hi, hopefully I’ll be up on my feet soon and...keep in touch, I don’t know. Listen to Rachel’s show on Luxuria Music. I don’t know. Thank you, so thank you for supporting local music and love your friends and your family and...that’s what you all are to me and if I didn’t have people that gave a shit about me, you know, like, I’d be home...fucked. Hahahaha. Thanks again, thanks.
Lady: Thank you, honey. Well, we love you very much. What I wanna also know is how do I join the Backward Clock Society? Do you have any literature I could go through possibly? Do I need a hat? It’s all Jose. Alright everybody, thank you so much for coming out tonight. That is the show. I’d like to thank all of our bands. Bob, we’re not done, oh woo hoo hoo! I am? Oh okay. Oh, I am? (crowd cheers as band comes back on stage) I don’t know--oh! Ohh!!!
BC: You need to stay on stage for this next song. You gotta sing it with me though. Alright, good. Alright, is that the right height for you?
Lady: Yes. I’m coming on tour. And I like to barf while [unintelligible].
It Never Rains in Southern California
(song breaks down in the middle)
BC: I can’t take it anymore. I thought I was through with therapy and then, heh heh, I was like.... Should we keep going?
(Kerry starts song again and they finish it)
BC: Thank you very much, thank you. Have you guys had a good time? Thank you. I’ve known Laura a long time. 20...20...20 something? 20 years. And uh, really appreciate her, we do. We were uh, talking backstage before the show, catching up, and I said, “You know, this has a lot to do with how people feel about you,” so I know it’s the way I feel being here, so thank you, thank you. Alright, let’s end on a rocker, this is a song by the Beatles, you might’ve heard of them.
Little Girl
BC: A three-fer, you forgot the three-fer. Thank you everybody, thank you, be safe going home, thank you.
Voodoo Child (tease - main riff once)
