Where Boys Fear to Tread
Zero
Fuck You
Corgan: Thank you. Our next song is called By Starlight.
By Starlight
Tonight, Tonight
Corgan: Hi, hello, hello. How y'all doing? Welcome to the Infinite Sadness Tour 99, I mean 96. Thank you very much for coming. James, wanna tell everyone what happened with the plane today?
Iha: Today our plane backfired, there was a small bit of turbulence in the engine, what happened, the pilot passed out, I took over control of the plane, I landed the damn thing right here in Memphis. I just wanted to say that Today is the greatest day.
Today
Thru the Eyes of Ruby
Corgan: Thank you. You're all suspiciously quiet, it makes us nervous. We know that the whole, we know rock is dead and all that, but let's pretend that it still lives for a while. You know what kinda rock and roll I like?
Iha: What's that?
Corgan: That would be the kind of rock and roll, just like Prince said, that the angels make.
Iha: This next song is made in heaven.
Cherub Rock
Corgan: Thank you.
Galapogos
Disarm
Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Corgan: Thank you very much. So, what would you like to hear? Hmm...whatever you're saying, we're gonna play this song anyway.
Muzzle
Corgan: Thank you.
[encore break]
Porcelina of the Vast Oceans / Rocket (tease)
[encore break]
Iha: Thank you, I see you've met our friend from Norway. He's a, he's our psychiatrist on this tour. You don't believe me? He travels with the band, and we often have him dress up as part of our regression psychiatric help, we bring out our primal fears about ourselves, and we make Jimmy dress up this way, for he is our psychiatrist. How do you people feel, are you bored? You sound like you're bored of a tired cliche that's been happening for more than 50 years. I'm talking about rock and roll. So...what do you want next? What? I'll try to bring out the rest of the band, but I don't know if they're gonna come out. Why here they are now, all the way from Chicago.
Corgan: See we're a little uh...yeah go ahead, keep booing, it's ok. I'd like to tell you a story before we play again, I'd like to tell you a story. Can I tell you a story? Ok. I don't wanna shout so you know, I'll just talk normally and if you wanna listen you can. We almost didn't play this concert -- you have to hear the whole story before you boo me see, you boo at the end. We almost didn't play this concert because we were very kinda dissapointed by the fact that it didn't sell a lot of tickets like most of the other places we play. We almost considered -- don't boo yet, just let me tell the rest of the story. James, stop playing, please. So we decided not to cancel the show because we didn't think it was fair to those of you who had bought tickets to not play. And the fact that we hadn't played here too many times before, couldn't really blame you for not knowing who we were. So...if you're a little puzzled by our reaction to all of this, it's just because you've been strangely quiet all night, which usually means that we suck and aren't very good. Or, it means that you suck, and you're not very good. Probably more likely it's that we suck. So that's our little story, just thought you might like to know why we are the way we are.
Iha: And um, now that the stage is bare with emptiness, we will uh, try to carry on.
X.Y.U.
