{{Social media/Instagram|James Iha's debut solo album, Let It Come Down, released February 10, 1998! Co-produced with Jim Scott, it featured Smashing Pumpkins personnel Matt Walker (drums, percussion), D'arcy Wretzky (harmony vocal on "One and Two"), Eric Remschneider (cello, string arrangement), along with a number of other guests musicians including the late Adam Schlesinger. The album spawned the 4-track single "Be Strong Now" as well as a promotional single for "Jealousy".

On this album, Iha took on a more acoustic country-ish sound reminiscent of the songs he contributed to the Pumpkins, notably shying away from the darker sound of Billy Corgan's songwriting at the time. Iha had said that the quieter tone of the songs reflected the fact that many of them were written in his hotel rooms during The Smashing Pumpkins tours, and he didn't want to disturb other guests by playing too loudly.

Let It Come Down peaked at #171 on the Billboard 200, at #76 in the UK and at #53 in Sweden. AllMusic gave the album 4/5 stars, asserting "Iha's handful of songwriting contributions to the Pumpkins suggested that he had talent, and he proves it here", adding that it is "a refreshing little gem that begs for a sequel."

BC: Thank you very much, thank you.  How’s everybody doing, you okay?  Are you sure you’re okay?  This is New Orleans, right?  Oh okay.  Haven’t been here in a while so I don’t know what you guys are up to.  We’re very excited to, uh, play here tonight, it’s a great city, very happy to be here with you.  We were lucky enough to come in yesterday and, uh, get a chance to look around and I’m glad to see the city is not what the media portrays it to be.  I expected here I, uh, sorry - I expected to come here and find some sort of living funeral but in fact, the city’s very much alive.  And no fucking hurricane can kill this place, I’ll tell you that.  Heh heh.  If this place can outlast the plague and a hurricane, I think you’re okay so....  I’d like to dedicate this next song, not only to everybody that’s here, but to anybody that’s in here, this city, it’s a beautiful place and I hope to visit here many, many more times.

BC: Thank you very much, thank you!  We’d like to now play a song for you from our new album.  The album is called Zeitgeist.  Not that anybody buys CDs anymore.  Heh heh.  I’ll tell you what...about this, we don’t care if you buy our CD, but we’d like you to listen to it, how’s that?  That’s all we ask, just listen to the music.  When you’re on there searching the internet for porn, just put the CD in, just rip it from a friend, you know?  You’re on there blogging or whatever you do on the internet.  Okay?  Alright.

(BC later: How come this side’s singing louder than this side?  That’s what I wanna know.  I wanna know why these people over here are rocking way fucking harder than these people over here.  What’s going on over here?  What’s going on over here?  All night long, these people over here have been rocking HARD!  Now is it that you all over here are smoking weed or what’s your deal?  You got some sort of absinthe bar over here we don’t know about?  Heh heh, exactly, exactly.  Alright, one last time, all together.  ''(singing)'' “I love rock ‘n’ roll...”)
(BC right before big ending: New Orleans, good night, thank you!)
