BC: Bogota, thank you very much. Thank you so much for coming to our concert tonight, thank you, thank you. Muchos gracias. Huh? Like to introduce the Smashing Pumpkins to you, on the bass, Nicole Fiorentino. On the drums, Mr. Mike Byrne. On the guitar, Jeff Schroeder. My name is William Patrick Corgan. Thank you. Thank you, no, thank you a lot. (crowd chanting “Billy! Billy!”) I didn’t--I didn’t know Pearl Jam was opening for us tonight.
Jeff: I didn’t know that either.
BC: Jeremy Is Smokin’. You know that one?
Jeremy (tease - Jeff plays the intro twice)
BC: You know Alive?
Alive (tease - Jeff poorly plays the riff once)
BC: You know any Metallica?
Enter Sandman (tease - Jeff plays the beginning of the riff twice)
BC: Heh heh, the other one you always do.
> One (tease - Jeff plays a bit of the intro)
BC: Brings back memories, doesn’t it?
Welcome to the Jungle (tease - Jeff briefly plays non-direct intro of live version)
BC: Okay.
Stairway to Heaven (tease - Jeff quietly plays the intro)
BC: (to crowd) What you wanna hear? (crowd screaming, Billy gestures and mutters to indicate a lot coming at him) Heh heh heh heh. Uhh, phooey. (pointing into crowd) You! Yeah, you, heh heh heh. I’m just teasing. Heh. I don’t wanna play any songs! No more songs. (crowd boos) No more songs. We’ve already played, what, (pointing at setlist) one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine--we’ve already played 10 songs, that’s enough. That’s more than enough. I have to go back to America tomorrow, I’m tired.
Jeff: Wait wait wait, we are in America.
(It takes Billy a moment to get it, then...)
BC: South America!
Jeff: At least fuckin’ [2 unintelligible words].
BC: (faux rock star voice) I love you. (turning to Nicole or somebody past her offstage, normal voice) I bet you didn’t know this...but my brother’s wife is married to a Colombian. He’s about this tall (holding hand up to his shoulder) and he’s about this wide (indicating twice as wide as Billy). Does that sound about right? Uncle Gyro. Okay, I’m gonna play a new song for you, it’s called Spangled. Spangled. This song will make all the girls cry. All the women will cry, yes, it’s so sad. (to Nicole) You cry every night. (gesturing at Mike, who nods) Mike cries too...but he’s not a woman. (pointing at Jeff) You don’t cry. Okay, this is our new song called Spangled, I hope you like it.
